Jelly Boooom: AI-Powered Mobile App Concept for Food Delivery

What is Jelly Boooom?

Jelly Booooom! is our in-house experiment to explore what happens when a mobile app concept is designed AI-first. The goal wasn’t to “let AI design for us”, but to use it to accelerate the process of exploration, worldbuilding, and iteration, while firmly keep the direction, taste, and product logic in human hands.

We designed the core flow and key screens, built a cohesive visual world with surreal, amusing mascots, and tested how far current AI-tools can go to assist with some real mobile UI work.

Our self-imposed challenge

Food delivery apps are everywhere today and have become an essential part of modern life, yet most experiences they offer feel the same. While that mostly works, we still saw a big opportunity to make the experience of choosing and ordering your next meal more fun and engaging.

At the same time, we set a constraint for ourselves: to integrate AI tools in our work on this project as much as possible,  but without sacrificing clarity, usability, or consistency.

What we designed

Each screen was designed to feel like part of one consistent “Jelly world”, not a set of disconnected mockups. We designed the core flow in Figma, starting with competitor research to understand the standard patterns, define the essential building blocks, and clarify where we wanted to push the concept further.

For this experiment, we focused on the key screens below:

  • Splash screen & Onboarding flow
  • Home
  • Dish details page
  • Restaurant page
  • Order creation & Order tracking
  • Delivery Widget

How our jelly mascots were born for a clear communication

We started from a reference featuring abstract shapes, untethered from any real-world objects, yet radiating some vivid, surreal, otherworldly energy at the same time. From there, we added a second layer of meaning by merging these abstract forms with familiar fruits and vegetables, transforming everything into a jelly-like texture.

Step by step, a set of abstract silhouettes and product forms evolved into our memorable jelly mascots - living symbols of food offered inside the app.

The personalities were shaped through deliberate contrasts.

Green apple is usually associated with health and a fresh sour note, so we created its opposite as a character: Sour Slacker.

Sour Slacker is a green apple that looks like a fitness freak at first glance, but is constantly surrounded by lazy, low‑energy symbols.

  • Metaphor: sport, sugar‑free diet and “healthy habits” pushed to the point of irony. Personality: an anti‑fitness panic girl with bad habits who keeps promising to “start on Monday”.
  • Appearance: an inflatable donut floats around the waist, a cup of cola in hand, posture and facial expression a bit tired but still cheerful and upbeat.

This mix of product, metaphor and small visual details allowed us to have a self‑contained mini story for each mascot.

Worlds & Storytelling

In Jelly Booooom!, the entire storytelling is built around two connected worlds.

  • World 1: The fantasy world.
This is where our jelly fruit-and-veg mascots live. Each has a bold personality, and they “guard” real food inside transparent bubble capsules.
  • World 2: The real world.
The human world intersects with the fantasy one through the process of  food delivery.

The mascots exist for a reason. They help people, explain complex things in a simple way, and smoothly guide users through the service. That’s why our Jelly mascots aren’t just decoration, they’re guides that clarify what’s happening at each step of the app.

Each mascot represents a type of food and a lifestyle vibe (healthy, sport, vacation, rave, and more). Their world spills into the real one through the delivery experience.

On the screens, both worlds live side by side: in one scene, a human tries to sneak into the mascots’ world and steal the food; in another, mascots fly on jelly capsule-bikes, delivering orders. Together, they reinforce one idea: delivery is its own kind of magic, not just some food brought to you in a plastic bag.

An instant feel for the world behind the app

We designed the onboarding to introduce Jelly Booooom! through playful storytelling. Each screen highlights a single core benefit, brought to life by AI-generated mascots and bright, bizarre food worlds that immediately set the tone of the app.

Turning discovery into ordering

We designed these important screens to immediately communicate how our app works . We chose to do it through interaction, not explanation. Discovery, filtering, and ordering flow together to make the user experience feel familiar, fast, and playful from the first tap. Nothing interrupts the flow - users simply follow their appetite.

Two steps. Zero friction

We unified browsing and ordering into a simple two-step flow, so users never feel like they’re switching modes. Familiar patterns, repeated interactions, and consistent layouts build instant recognition and make the path from food discovery to checkout feel fast and effortless.

Live order tracking that comes alive

Order updates are brought to life through playful visuals and animated scenes, turning real-time tracking into something you actually enjoy watching, not just check from time to time.

Instant updates, transparent tracking

Order status is communicated instantly, without explanation, while real-time updates remain clear through the live map, building trust through visibility and engaging visuals.

Where AI still struggled

Not everything was smooth.

For example, we tried to animate falling mascots on the splash screen. It should be simple, but it wasn’t. We burned a lot of credits across tools and models, and still got inaccuracies and artifacts, especially when there were many small objects in the frame.

That was a good reminder: AI can speed up output, but it doesn’t automatically solve production-level polish.

Final result

Jelly Booooom! became a cohesive mobile app concept with a distinct personality, a clear UX flow, and a visual system built to scale. Most importantly, it proved that with the right direction, AI can make design exploration faster and more fun, without turning the process into random output.

It was a genuinely interesting experiment, and we’re planning to do another one soon, this time in the health domain, where gamification, engagement, and retention really matter.
