Redesigning NJL: A Fresh Look for an Analytics Platform

Not Just Analytics (NJL) is the go-to platform for Instagram insights, helping businesses and influencers to better understand their audience and improve performance. When NJL decided to revamp its website and platform, they turned Flexy to craft a fresh, user-friendly design that remained true to their brand identity. From interactive quizzes and personalized UI modes to an AI Assistant and vibrant visuals, we reimagined the user experience to be both engaging and functional. This case study explores how we brought NJL’s vision to life and continue to innovate alongside them.

What is NJL? 

Not Just Analytics (NJL) is a web-based platform that provides a comprehensive analysis of Instagram profiles, including audience demographics, content performance, and engagement metrics. Designed for businesses, influencers, and social media managers, it enables users to generate customized PDF reports, discover effective hashtags, and monitor competitor activities. 

NJL has a website featuring a landing page that highlights the platform's features and benefits, along with additional pages offering detailed information and useful content (About Us, Our Team, Subscriptions, Blog).

Users who purchase a subscription gain access to the analytics platform.

Our Challenge 

Our task was to completely redesign the Not Just Analytics website and analytics platform to enhance the product and streamline navigation. It was essential to create a visually appealing and user-friendly design that at the same time aligns with NJL’s established brand identity. We had to preserve elements that resonate with existing users while introducing modern aesthetics to attract new audiences.

Note: Our work was not limited to the initial redesign task. After completing it, we have regularly contributed designs for the new features NJL wanted to implement, and our collaboration continues.

Our Process

The NJL project involved work on two components:

Redesign 

Research

Great UX design is always based on a deep knowledge of audience behavior, their preferences, likes, and dislikes. First, we thoroughly studied the website and the platform to identify the current strengths and weaknesses. Together with the NJL team, we created a questionnaire and interviewed real users about their experience with the platform.

Enhanced Look

Based on our findings, we redesigned the landing page and platform UI, giving them a fresh look with new branding. We made the visuals more colorful, fun, and approachable yet professional. The new look is not only visually appealing but also makes the platform easier and more enjoyable to use.

Redesigned Sign-Up

We created a step-by-step registration flow so that users know what to expect at each stage. 

Quizzes: Getting to Know Each Other Made Fun

Filling out long sign-up questionnaires can discourage users from registering and interacting with the platform. We made the process fun and engaging by introducing quizzes. Not only are they entertaining, but they also help customers determine which plan suits them best. 

These quizzes are offered at various points, including during registration, on the pricing page, and as the first step on the main international landing page, simplifying decision-making.

Social Proof for Increased Conversion

Social proof—testimonials and user success stories—is a proven tool for driving website conversion rates. It helps build trust and encourages new users to engage with the platform. We added reviews from various user types relevant to NJL’s target audience: digital creators, artists, influencers, content creators, and social managers.

Improved Functionality

Boomer & Nerd Modes 

The NJL team brought many ideas to improve the platform, and we helped them visualize them. One of the key improvements was the introduction of modes for beginners (Boomers) and experienced users (Nerds). The main purpose of this distinction was to present complex information in a more accessible way. 

Both views display the same sections but in different formats. The "Boomer” mode features less information, highlighting only the main points in an easier-to-digest manner. For “Nerds", there is much more data available for deeper exploration. Users can switch between these views depending on their needs and experience level.

AI Assistant

We developed an AI Assistant integrated directly into the platform. It offers features similar to ChatGPT but tailored to the needs of NJL’s users. The assistant includes tools such as a hashtag generator, caption generator, content idea generator, and personal bio generator. It also allows users to customize their tone of voice (e.g., friendly, formal, persuasive).

Improved UI for Complex Graphs 

Together with the NJL team, we enhanced existing features and developed entirely new ones to improve social media analysis. We improved the UI for various types of charts, stats, and key NJL features. Now, everything is presented in a consistent style across the platform, making it easier to navigate. 

We also added a knowledge base with articles on how to use the platform’s features and updated tips for new users.

Features: My Talents and Search For Influencers 

The platform's research and selection of influencers feature helps users find and manage influencers for marketing campaigns. Users can:

  1. Search Profiles: Identify influencers based on criteria like niche, audience reach, and engagement metrics.
  2. Save and Organize Profiles: Create and manage lists of saved influencer profiles, categorized by campaign or type.
  3. Send Collaboration Requests: Directly contact influencers to negotiate partnerships, view performance data, and check availability.

Additionally, we designed two types of lists to help with organization:

  • My Talents: These lists are automatically populated with influencers verified by the user.
  • Custom Lists: These are manually created from search results and tailored to business or campaign-specific needs.

UI Styles: Light and Dark Modes 

We developed designs for both light and dark modes, making the platform more suitable for various use scenarios.

  • The white background creates a clean and airy appearance, giving the interface an open and less cluttered feel. It ensures readability and visibility, with soft color contrasts that are easy on the eyes during daytime use.

  • The dark background enhances contrast, making key elements such as charts, buttons, and text more prominent. Bright-colored accents (e.g., pink for bars and green for growth indicators) appear more vivid. Dark mode is gentler on the eyes in low-light environments, reducing glare and minimizing eye strain during extended use.

NJL Brand Colors 

For both the landing page and the platform we used a color palette that helps users stay focused and find the necessary features and data easily: 

  • A clean white or light gray background provides a neutral canvas, allowing content and key data points to stand out clearly.
  • Purples, blues, and pink gradients for headers and key sections add a dynamic and modern feel, catching the user's attention and making the interface visually appealing.

Additionally, we designed two types of lists to help with organization:

  • My Talents: These lists are automatically populated with influencers verified by the user.
  • Custom Lists: These are manually created from search results and tailored to business or campaign-specific needs.

SMM Templates 

NJL has a strong online community. On its Instagram page, they host a variety of events, feature guest appearances, and share tips on making the most of the platform. Instagram users actively engage with their posts.

In addition to redesigning the website and user platform, we developed a suite of social media templates, including post formats, story layouts, and advertisement designs, enabling the NJL team to maintain a consistent visual presence across channels.
